Eat healthy

Paying attention to what we eat is one of the most important and simple things we can do to improve our health. People in the most advanced civilizations have been exposed to highly processed foods for several generations.

During this processing of our food, many of the nutritional benefits of food are processed. Natural healthy food is alive. Living tissue begins to rot as soon as it is separated from its roots. During processing, manufacturers remove many of the nutrients from food to slow this breakdown process so that food lasts longer on store shelves.

The problem is that those nutrients are essential components of a healthy diet.

Eating organic whole foods, as much as possible, is a very basic component of healthy living. I’m not a fan of this. I am slowly eating more organic whole foods and less processed foods.

Fruits, nuts, vegetables and whole grains are the most natural ingredients in a healthy human diet. Eating lean meat is fine, but it takes a lot more resources to produce meat and then our bodies use more energy to digest it.

I have always thought that human beings are omnivorous. It has been since we diverged from our closest relatives in the animal kingdom some 8 million years ago. Then someone pointed out that human teeth are not carnivore teeth, and I have to admit, they have a good point.

There is also the well known fact that meat production is a very inefficient way of producing food. And I have witnessed with my own eyes the inhumane treatment of cattle in commercial agriculture.

I am not opposed to eating meat. I am opposed to allowing people to lock animals in cages and pens where they cannot move and are forced to live in their own sewer.

I’m also not opposed to genetically modifying food, however turning our food into a pesticide by inserting pesticides into the food’s DNA seems retarded. The creation of drought resistant crop breeds through genetic modification seems reasonable.

The subject of organic food is a bit more complicated. I agree that eating organic is probably the healthiest thing to do, however the benefits of the green revolution are undeniable. The use of fertilizers and pesticides has allowed us to increase our food production and decrease hunger around the world.

The trend towards monoculture is also worrying. Growing only a few varieties of crops increases the chance of famine, because that species of grain can be wiped out by pests or other diseases. A diverse variety of food crops is more sustainable than the monoculture practiced in modern commercial agriculture.

I am also in favor of organizing the agrarian base of our economy in favor of family farming. I admit that agribusiness on an industrial scale has some advantages, however, in my opinion, the costs far outweigh the benefits. Our civilization should be based on the land from which we evolved, not the stores in which we shop.

We need a World Health Organization or some other agency to regulate these issues in a way that benefits everyone in the world, not just the companies that produce food and medicine.

I encourage everyone to pay attention to what we eat. I don’t recommend being a fan of anything. I recommend eating mostly fruits, nuts, vegetables, and whole grains. I suggest that we proceed with caution, take the middle path, organize our agriculture and food production in the way and means that are best for all human beings everywhere.

I also often take food supplements, such as vitamins and minerals. Since a lot of the nutrients are processed out of our food, I think adding supplements is helpful. Although the supplements are artificially manufactured. Supplying our bodies with a large amount of resources is a good idea. Each person must be aware and aware of the unique properties of our physical being, as well as our intellectual and spiritual being. He lives holistically.
