Finally! Help for children suffering from ADHD, ADD!

Over the past decade, cases of Attention Hyperactivity Disorder and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD/ADD) have increased fivefold. It has been reported that 3-7% of American children suffer from the diagnosis. The symptoms of ADHD/ADD are characterized by poor concentration, poor concentration, impulsive behaviors, and hyperactivity. Currently, there are no specific protocols for diagnosing the conditions. They are often strictly observational, with no diagnostic imaging or laboratory studies to confirm these conditions.

Many parents doubt themselves during the course of treatment, and some become quite pessimistic about medications and their side effects on their children. The United States alone consumes a whopping 90% of the world’s pharmaceuticals for ADHD/ADD. The good news is that there are alternatives. Poor nutrition and improper diet are the main culprits for ADHD/ADD symptoms. According to an article published in the Journal of Pediatric Child Health, it was found that there is a direct relationship between diet and symptoms in children with ADHD, including sleep problems, physical symptoms, and mood swings. Eliminating foods that contain high fructose corn syrup, sucralose, hydrogenated oils, food dyes and flavor enhancers (MSG), and other baked goods and processed foods is a big step. Returning to a diet full of whole-food fruits and vegetables, some whole grains, legumes, and fish for a minimum of 12 weeks should produce many desirable outcomes in children and, subsequently, better behaviors.

The addition of nutritional supplements often helps, and should include omega-3 fatty acids, DHA, ginger root, magnesium, zinc, and iron along with whole food fruit and vegetable capsules. These are not intended to be a “substitute” but rather a “supplement” to the diet. Omega 3 fatty acids are essential for brain growth, function and cognitive development. Many studies have shown depletion of the above supplements in children with ADHD compared to a randomized control group.

There is a documented correlation between cervical kyphosis (reverse curvature of the neck) and cervical spine (neck) subluxation with increased ADHD/ADD. In my practice alone, the majority of my children who have been diagnosed with these conditions have seen marked improvement in their symptoms simply by restoring the proper curve and straightening the spine through gentle chiropractic adjustments and traction. We are seeing a sharp increase in children seeking spinal correction as a means of proactive health care. As a result, many parents are able to reduce the amount of medication their children take, if not completely.

Exercise has also been shown to be a great help for children with attention span problems. Exercise helps increase blood flow and oxygenation to the various muscles and organs in your body. According to John J. Ratey, MD, clinical associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, “Exercise improves the student. Their senses are heightened, their concentration and mood improve, they are less restless and tense, and they feel more relaxed. more motivated and energized. Exercise creates the environment for our brain cells to connect, which is the building block of learning.” Video games, TV watching, and other stagnant activities can hamper a child’s behavior and body due to a lack of learning and activity.

House rules and active parenting will also greatly improve behaviors. Set rules, always be positive, set adequate sleep times, decrease TV, computer and video game time, and be more active in reading and homework with your child, it will help with their focus and mood. Above all, consistency and taking an active role in your child’s life will produce many desired results for the betterment of your children.

By taking these steps in whole or individually, you and you are making significant changes to your child’s health and potentially eliminating the need for long-term pharmaceutical care. The choice is clear and easy to implement.
