Sad MLM Truth: MLM IS NOT FUN
People are really driven by passion and enthusiasm. Many people start out excited about an MLM, they think everyone else will be equally excited because your product is so great, or the company is in a pre-launch, or the compensation plan is the best they have ever seen. But guess what, people won’t see that right away, they’ll knock you down, and the excitement will start to fade when your friends and family tell you that you’re on a pyramid scheme (although you obviously aren’t because they’re illegal. But don’t try to tell them that!)
So maybe you’re not trying to tell your friends and family, because you know that attraction marketing is the only way to go. But then you’re wasting your time trying to add as many friends as you can on Facebook or Twitter, or writing articles about things you don’t know. And frankly, that gets tedious and for most people it doesn’t feel very good. Admit it, when you’re searching for people in MLM groups on Facebook and adding friends as fast as you can without Facebook giving you the dreaded “you’re moving fast” box, does that feel great? Or do you vaguely feel that you might be behaving a bit like a spammer?
When you write your articles, do you feel like you’ve really delivered value or do you feel like you’re obviously just trying to sell something in the end? What do you think of your marketing? Because let’s face it, if you don’t feel good about what you’re doing, YOU WILL NOT KEEP DOING IT! No matter how well it worked for others, YOU have to feel good about it, because you just won’t do something that makes you feel bad about yourself!
But … how can we be successful if typical marketing techniques are difficult or uncomfortable? How can we keep doing the action and making things happen because …

The secret to success is constant and persistent ACTION.
Ok … so we know that if we don’t feel good about what we’re doing, we won’t continue to take consistent and persistent action until we’re successful, we’ll just stop the second Facebook says we are too. quick, or EzineArticles says one of our articles is too promotional, etc. So how can we feel good about what we are doing?
How can we make MLM fun?
Here are some ideas.
1. People LOVE having REAL relationships
What if instead of rushing through a list on Facebook pressing add, add, add, you actually select the people you want to be friends with? Do you want people who spam your profile page or people you really have something in common with? Take a couple of minutes to click on the name and see what interests the person has and send them a personal message with the friend request asking them a question … and DO NOT include a link. This is much more likely to cause someone to remember your name and start a communication. They will usually answer and ask a question, so you can get to know the people … and guess what, it just takes one more minute.
Do you just post links on Facebook or spend time getting to know people as people, not potential paychecks? Take 30 minutes to reply to people’s posts or like their videos, etc. Trust me, it will be a lot more FUN for you as you get to know people.
Laughs a little! Post real things about the real you, not everything has to be a business, mlm is about relationships, so make it fun!
2. People LOVE being part of a COMMUNITY
Guess what, you are already part of a community! You’re in an MLM company, and there are probably a LOT of like-minded people in your company. Receive calls from your company, meet other people from your company. You don’t have to be a competition, everyone has the same goal. And if you are part of an attraction marketing system like MLSP, you have additional communities to connect, learn, and grow. This will continually increase your faith in your business and help you realize that the little setbacks you run into are not the end of the world, everyone else is facing the same things and overcoming them too.
3. Create a mastermind
Find a few people you connect with well in your communities and create a think tank. Share your goals and dreams with them, get support when you feel depressed. Challenge each other to do more and do better! A great thing to do is create a Skype group or a private Facebook group with one or two other people so they can ask questions, keep up-to-date, and help each other. Try to find someone on the same path as you who is actually doing the work and getting results. You want your intellectual group to inspire you … and you want to ENJOY IT … this is not just a business, you can make some real friends for life this way.
4. Learn, learn, learn
You will have TEN TIMES more fun in your business when you are absolutely immersed in it. There is nothing like having a true passion for something, and the more you learn and dive, the more passion you will strengthen. The more you learn about your business and your industry, the more valuable you become to others, and the BETTER you WILL FEEL about yourself and your work. If you are producing true quality in the form of articles and videos etc, it is always down to the quality of your learning and knowledge. And after a while, learning becomes FUN! When you discover something new, you ABSOLUTELY want to share it with others. When you take the time to learn about a topic, you feel better about what you are producing from that knowledge. I used to hate writing reviews for other companies, but I’ve started to find it fun to research and see what others are up to. I always try to bring something to my articles that other marketers haven’t taken the time to discover … and it becomes an always DELIVER game.
The real truth about MLM is that it CAN be fun! You just have to STOP worrying about money and start thinking about being valuable and creating great friendships. The more genuine you are, the more fun you will have! And while it’s easier to build fast than slow, it’s easier to build with integrity and a sense of FUN.
