So do you want to be Beyoncé? that’s how you can be

So, did you see Beyonce’s flawless performance at Coachella/Glastonbury/SuperBowl (the list goes on) and feel inspired? You’re not alone. Considered one of the best artists of our generation, if not THE BEST, Beyonce is impressive. Whether you’re a fan of her music or not, her consistency and perfectionism deserve respect. Her level of success seems a bit daunting and unattainable, but other than a superior sense of rhythm, she has no superpowers. So in case you ever decide to put in that job, I’ve done a little research on what it takes to get up to her level. If you’re wondering how long it’s going to take, Beyonce Giselle Knowles’ quest for stardom began 18 years ago. So if you’re 30 now, follow her techniques and you could be headlining festivals at 48. Fun!

Step 1. Practice more than everyone else.

From the age of 9, Beyoncé began training in the performing arts and her dedication was evident early on. Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland recalls a young Beyoncé staying up until 4 a.m. the night before first concerts, perfecting routines and performing tasks as menial as fixing a wardrobe button. Ella’s sister Solange also recalls the star perfecting a single line from a song in her bedroom over and over again, all night long. When she was working on music with Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé would get into the studio before anyone else, she would sing all the vocals on the songs and mix them. Her bandmates would come in and fill in for her voice.

“The truth is that it is a lot of sacrifice. It is more about your mental strength than your physical strength.” – Beyonce

Step 2. Focus on the end goal.

Take a second to imagine that your parents “run” you. No matter how much you love or respect them, there will undoubtedly be times when you want to cut ties. Three of the early members of Destiny’s Child left the band because they couldn’t deal with Matthew Knowles. I imagine Beyoncé would have found it even more difficult to deal with him, with her being more emotionally involved in the disagreements. However, she knew that Matthew and her methods could help her get to where she needed to be. Her ability to detach emotionally and focus on the end goal proved invaluable when it came to writing and delivering ‘Lemonade’. She channeled her battles into her music and sold millions of albums as a result.

“It’s very liberating to really know what I want, what really makes me happy, what I’m not going to put up with. I’ve learned that taking care of myself is nobody’s job but me.” -Beyonce

Step 3. Get fit.

It’s fair to say that our Beyonce is quite athletic. Her concerts last about 3 hours, so if you want to be fit enough to survive, you’ll need to think about increasing your workouts to at least 3 hours. To stay in shape offstage, Beyoncé gets tough by boxing and swinging big, heavy ropes. If you’re proud of your ability to do push-ups… Beyonce does ‘explosives’. Which are pretty much the same thing, but when you press up, you have to push your hands on top to “jump” an inch above the ground. Her trainer suggests doing 4 sets of 8-10 reps (something to work on). In addition to strength, she works out on a treadmill for cardio, alternating a one-minute sprint with two minutes of brisk walking for 30 minutes at a time.

“I teach my body every day that I can go a little further… I know what it is capable of, I have seen it before in miracles.” – Beyonce

Step 4. Do your research.

How did Beyoncé prepare for that legendary Super Bowl halftime show? Watching every halftime show ever and taking notes. She set a clear intention to replicate what had worked in the past and avoid what hadn’t.

Step 5. Trust your own opinion (but don’t expect others to).

When she first parted ways with Destiny’s Child, Beyonce’s record label initially didn’t want to release her first solo album because they believed there were no hits on the album. The album sold 11 million copies and included ‘Crazy in Love’.

“Everyone in my life has a different purpose and a different ear and a different kind of advice. But I have to make the decisions…” -Beyoncé

Step 5. Guard your reputation fiercely.

Famously private, the singer has covered Vogue before without saying a single word in the magazine. Everything she posts on social channels is strategically planned. Beyoncé has a clearly defined image of herself and wants to protect it at all costs. She even hires her own paparazzi and employs a brand manager.

Step 6. Work like you have no reputation.

She is relentless. In each performance she has something to prove and sees each one as important as the last. In Beyoncé’s world you are only as good as your last performance. This refusal to get comfortable is something that very few artists commit to on the same level.

“I can never be sure; I always try to go against the grain. As soon as I achieve one thing, I just set myself a higher goal. That’s how I got to where I am.” – Beyonce

Step 7. Use your ‘I’ time.

A slightly unusual habit the star developed is recording her thoughts in a video diary, “when I’m away, and I’m alone, and I need to talk and I need to heal. Because you have so many thoughts… your mind… It’s my diary. ” Like many world-class professionals, she practices meditation, waking up an hour before Jay and Blue to pray and meditate. Doing this first thing in the morning allows the singer to be ready and present with her family when they are awake.

Y Step 8. Practice the art of visualization.

Sacha Fierce was a creation that allowed Beyonce to act more boldly when playing a role. She saw very clearly who she wanted to be and created herself.

“I felt it was time to shape my future, so I set a goal for myself. My goal was independence.” – Beyonce

And there you have it. The steps to be the absolute best of a modern queen. Remember, you have the same number of hours in a day as Beyoncé.
