Viral memetic infection: the psychological obstacle of the paranormal community

Zeal. Fervor. Blind faith. Unwavering belief.

These are the symptoms and attributes that denote the ugly side of religion. Religion is that which is a system or a promulgated operation of ideas that are anchored in one’s own psyche and, therefore, act as a format or basis for everyday functionality in one’s life. We all have a religion, be it in the accepted wisdom traditions of the world, science, atheism, agnosticism, or whatever structure by which one has devised a principled basis for governing oneself.

Capable.

There is nothing inherently wrong with a memetic mindset unless the mindset is one of division, polarity, or a superiority complex in nature. These tend to be harmful as brother against brother and sister against sister impose a very real and principled judgment of physical or mental cruelty, and both sides think that they are right in their fanaticism to reaffirm their beliefs within themselves in a way. moralist. I give you the condition of the world today as an example of this infectious memetic polarity caused by the religious divide in which others suffer at the hands of other beliefs.

What I want to address in this article is viral memetic infection in which an idea spreads like a disease from one mind to another from its source or origin, which is accepted indisputably as it is with no thought of potential harm to oneself or to themselves. others with the other idea. that by continuing, one is doing a greater good. Many cults of infamy, such as Jim Jones’ Peoples Temple, Heaven’s Gate from which I lost a distant relative of mine, and the Unification Church, are all examples of a massive viral memetic infection.

All that is needed is a somewhat educated Alpha Personality with a megalomaniac ego and a penchant for power to instill a plausible but still twisted set of ethics and ideals into the soft minds of the “lost” seeker or low self-esteem. Does this sound familiar to you? Let’s remove the rituals with obvious religious overtones and change the names of the memetic seed sowers who love to meet the weak-minded who do not think for themselves of building a cult of personality full of zeal, fervor and unshakable faith. like any fundamentalist religion and call it UFOlogy.

I think this is a valid assessment and observation, although it is not new. The obviousness of this, however, is more on the nose today than ever.

There are two major infectious memes that plague the Paranormal Community today and they are easily recognized as the two camps known as the True Believers and the Detractors, leaving the precious few Skeptics scattered randomly and bit by bit somewhere in the middle. . They are both very jealous in nature. Both have an unshakable faith in their beliefs that allows them to preconceive a complete notion or decision without reviewing other possibilities, evidence or processes. The only difference between these viral memes is simply an idea. A belief. Other than that, they both seem to be terrified at the prospect of not knowing. They are hell-bent on knowing something, even if they have to invent it to establish some kind of safety net, even if that very network is linked to imaginary posts.

There are many personality cults in the Paranormal Community and it is becoming so accepted as such that acceptance of these viral memetic infections is another submeme of acceptance itself. It is very subtle and is riddled with innumerable nuances and almost imperceptible subconscious beliefs of its own, also based on perceptually real fears. Everything is a very confusing and complicated mess and each interlaced layer is another virulent and infectious meme.

Memes themselves are a rarity in the sense that the highly subjective nature of one’s own perception would almost seem like a security against them, as each and every perception is unique with no exception to that rule, however, here is that someone comes up with a compelling idea and Subsequently, almost without fail, others, without experiencing the point of view or perception of the creator, blindly accept the idea in an unquestionable way and, therefore, are caught in continuing without thinking more in his act of following than in a perception and mentality of “this guy is right”.

Am I the only one who finds the obviousness of this unbridled running in the entire Paranormal Community and UFOlogy in particular? I hope not, but again, I don’t want you to take my ideas as written and start following me or my line of thought. I have a tendency to be a hermit and I don’t want anyone to be that close to me. I’d rather you think for yourself! It is only because I am personally affected by the invasive thoughts and actions of those who perceive themselves as righteous that I correct this at all. It’s a selfish indulgence, I know. So be it. My motivation does not detract from the validity of the point that is being raised in any way.

You are alone in all your perceptions and experiences. Only you can determine a direction of action should there be any to take, the point being, make sure you are clearly deciding for yourself and not blindly following the unproven ideals, principles, and constructs as outlined by little thinking. clear of another.

The end goal and intention of this article is simple. I cannot, nor can anyone else tell you what to think or how to think. This is impossible. Everything that comes to your mind is there because you

FOR) Created it, gold

B) Allowed it to get there

You have a choice. All I ask is that you exercise that precious ability of choice. The bottom line is that no one has answers for YOU. Nobody has the truth for YOU. Nobody knows something that you don’t know because there is nothing to know! Literally!

Think by yourself. Decide for yourself. Take action for yourself. These are brave and courageous deeds, but again these are disgusting, vicious, and heinous times and no less ethical will mitigate the baseless claims of a self-proclaimed prophet or power-monger.

Set yourself free …

Health,
~ Erik ~
