Baxter’s at 101 Bridge Street joins Phoenixville restaurant conglomerate

Opening July 2, 2009, Baxter’s at 101 Bridge Street complements Phoenixville’s restaurant conglomerate by offering a diverse and charming restaurant and lounge in a historic setting. The city of Phoenixville, which has transformed in recent years from the sleepy home of the forgotten steel mill to the new hotspot of Chester County, welcomes the restaurant with open arms. The city offers First Fridays and live entertainment on Friday nights on the streets to promote the business of shops and restaurants on and around Bridge Street.

Owners Ron Morrison and Vihn Dihn, who created Baxter’s and now also own Baxter’s of Great Valley, decided to replace the upscale and elegant 101 Bridge establishment with a more traditional and eclectic American pub. While the restaurant maintains the ambience, service and charm that 101 developed in the historic Phoenixville Steel Corporation office building, it now also offers affordable traditional cuisine including burgers, salads, mussels and various steak and seafood selections.

Chef Chris Bechtle, formerly of Bobby’s Seafood and Ludwig’s Oyster Bar and Grill, brings an original twist to Baxter’s. Some of his creations include a luscious and creamy crab bisque, a lusciously fresh avocado and crabmeat salad, a succulent peppered salmon, and a sumptuous banana Foster Bread Pudding.

The menu offers juicy burgers on toasted buns along with tender Filet Mignon, fresh salads and delicious pasta dishes that satisfy a wide range of appetites. The restaurant also offers weekly specials like Strip Steak Night and Seafood Night, as well as happy hour and Phillies game time specials.

Families will be relieved to know that children are welcome and can order from the children’s menu while their parents relax at elegant tables lit by candlelight and fresh flowers. Baxter’s at 101 Bridge plans to open for lunch next week.

The restaurant offers outdoor dining so patrons can enjoy live entertainment and a beautiful view of the city. Baxter’s at 101 Bridge plans to be competitive with other Phoenixville restaurants like Iron Hill Brewery, The Black Lab Bistro, Steel City Coffee House, Mayolica and Marley’s. With an affordable menu and great fresh food, the restaurant has the opportunity to do just that.
