Netrani Island, also known as Pigeon Island

The crystal clear waters and marine wealth of Netrani make it a great diving experience. Although it is a small island in the Arabian Sea, visibility around Netrani Island is 15 to 20 meters. Diving is a very new activity here. The dive sites are from 10 to 30 meters deep. They are home to coral reefs on the eastern side of the island and rock walls on the western and northwestern sides of the island. When underwater you can expect to see schools of barracuda, trevally, snapper, red tooth trigger fish, Indian fish, large shark-like cobia, grouper, honeycomb moray eels, puffer fish, wrasse. If diving isn’t your cup of tea, you can go snorkeling and enjoy the amazing underwater life.

Goa is an ideal place for people who have just discovered the fun of diving. It is the best place to start diving. Although Goa is well known for its blue waters, it does not have good visibilities. It may not be the best place to snorkel, but to start with, the marine life below is excellent for the first experience. Isla Grande and Isla Sao Jorge have several types of dive sites to offer. Wrecks in sandy bays, warm waters, and calm waters make for a great diving experience.

Just two hours drive from South Goa, Devbagh is an Island Resort located in North Karnataka. Diving has been introduced to Devbagh Beach Resort in Karwar only from this year (2000) onwards. All one has to do is cross by boat from Karwar to reach Devbagh Beach Resort.

Through diving and snorkeling under the supervision and guidance of instructors, visitors have the opportunity to have live encounters with the marine communities that live below the crystal clear waters that surround this secluded ivory beach resort.

lakshadweep

Lakshadweep tops the list of best diving destinations in India. Bangaram at Lakshadweep is a favorite among divers. This teardrop shaped island is the only licensed diving school present in India. This means that amateurs can receive formal scuba training and be certified divers. Kadmat Island also has a diving center. The necessary equipment and training is available if you are interested in learning.

What attracts people from far and wide to Lakshadweep is its underwater life which is unique and understandable of a rich and diverse collection of colorful and patterned marine animals. Marine corals ranging from large sea fans to tiny hydroids, from dreamlike sea anemones to crystalline jellyfish, are a delight to behold while snorkeling. And not only corals, but also a huge variety of various colorful varieties of fish can be seen by the diver who will not please him at all.

Andaman is a paradise for divers. It is popular with tourists as both dive operators are located on this island: Dive India and Barefoot Scuba are PADI certified dive centers. They have several converted dive boats, provide good equipment, and offer training to amateurs as well as instructors. The extensive diving possibilities around Andaman are vast and the discovered dive sites are amazing to explore. More dive sites will open soon. Today Havelock is the main dive center in the island chain. For experienced divers there are opportunities to be part of diving expeditions that include exciting adventures to discover unexplored sites.
