Live Forever – The Magic of the Flower Essence

I’m a hands-on guy, so when the topic of using spray pendulums to make yes or no decisions came up during my just-concluded herb learning weekend, I had to skip participation. I explained that that’s what my intuition is for and I left it at that. Nobody seemed to care. But when it came to the “ritual” for making flower essences, he was ready to play.

If you don’t know what flower essence is, you can do a Google search for “flower essence” and find all the details. Anyway, what you do is find a flower in nature, pick the flower, put it in a container of water, and let it sit in the sun for a while so that the essence of the flower mixes with the water, which is then added to a little brandy for preservation and thus, in a nutshell, the medicinal flower essence is made.

So this weekend we were instructed to walk through the master’s beautiful garden, find a flower that seemed to speak to us, perform the “ritual” and sit and meditate on the flower as it mixed with the bowl of water and sun. I walked around looking for a flower and didn’t find one right away. Only when I got back to my starting point did I notice a beautiful, vibrant, strong flower that I somehow missed the first time. How could I not see this stunning flower the first time I wondered? That was enough to get my attention. I had never seen a flower like this before, I didn’t know its name, but this flower became my choice. So I made the meeting and sat down to meditate as instructed. Almost immediately I realized how this growing thing and I were one in it. That which grows and sustains this flower is the same thing that grows and sustains me. That within this flower there is an intelligence that makes the atoms spin in a particular order that is equal to the intelligence that makes the atom spin in the same order as in me. I realized the Unifying Intelligence behind the atoms. Then I became aware of the wind, the rustling of the trees, the church bells, the singing and flapping of the birds and deeply experienced the Reality of oneness with everything. Even when the neighbor started using his electric hammer drill on some project, I could “see” the drive in the electricity that powered that drill and in the plastic and metal that made it. Everything is sustained by the same Source and everything is One and the Same in its True Essence. This I experienced deeply. And when I opened my eyes everything was alive… even the rocks that held up the flower bed in front of me were a whirlwind of atoms directed by the Same Source as everything else. The spider crawling up the rock in front of me, I knew, was me, and I was. It was an amazing meditation.

We were now instructed to go to the teacher’s library and investigate our flower. First you had to identify it, then investigate to know the characteristics of its essence. I discovered that “my” flower was called “Live Forever” (sedum purpureum). A plant, I learned, persists so amazingly that it can regenerate itself from any part of its composition. A fact that, together with its vibrant appearance, gave it its common name.

This is what my research learned about these attributes of the essence of this flower. “Coordinate spirit and human into a single unit.” “Temporarily clears the subconscious mind where it is brought into a temporary state of alignment with (Spirit)…” Meditation, intuition, and higher aspects of psychic faculties are heightened.” This flower “gives the individual a heightened awareness of itself “as a soul” and “increases the basic sensitivity and awareness of the conscious mind”. .”

Was it a coincidence that you had a powerful meditation on the Oneness of all while meditating with this flower whose essence is said to help bring about unity between Spirit and consciousness? I just know that, deep down, the essence of everything is One and each has its own unique expression and purpose. I also know that if the Intelligent Spirit can give “life” even to rocks, then I know that there is a magical essence within everything. Flower essences are said to be healing for both man and animal. I don’t have enough experience to say that this is so, however, I don’t believe in pure coincidence. What I experienced while meditating while doing the “ritual” harvesting of this flower, and what I later learned to be its attributes, I cannot dismiss as pure coincidence. There is disease of mind, spirit and body on this earth, that is a fact. But Spirit, knowing what was to come, has made all kinds of healing aids available. And just as a flower can give off an amazingly magical fragrance, a fragrance so beautiful that it sometimes suggests the Eternal, why couldn’t there be physical and spiritual healing properties within them as well?
