Motivation – Develop a winning mentality

A certain hermit named Manfred once told me, “Son, you can be anything you want to be in this life, you can do anything you want to do, and you can achieve anything you want to achieve, if you only believe.” He’d heard these words before, no doubt, but something about the way he said them, the stern voice, and the sure look in his eyes made me wonder if he knows something I don’t.

I have been wondering ever since and have been trying to live up to his words.

What is motivation? And what is the mentality of a winner?

I challenge these questions in the following article, but first let’s look at why we should try to motivate ourselves in the first place:

  • Health Benefits: Motivated people are often healthier than ordinary people: they love life and, as a result, have a reason to stay healthy. They have experienced the ups and downs of life and prefer a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
  • Attraction: Motivated people are magnetic: everyone wants to be around them, who doesn’t want to be around someone who is always happy, rain or shine?
  • Productivity: motivated people get things done, have a positive attitude. They show more anticipation for the day ahead and approach each task with great passion and enthusiasm.
  • Positivity: Motivated people are optimists: they have learned that optimism opens more doors in life than pessimism. Their approach to challenges is different and they are more adaptable to change. They see everything good or bad as an opportunity to learn and grow.
  • Energy: Motivated people have more energy and require less sleep than ordinary people. This is not due to a caffeine rush or an adrenaline rush, but rather a genuine natural emotion and zest for life.

Being motivated is a choice and a perspective, not a situation or position.

be motivated

One of my favorite quotes from Zig Ziglar is that “You can’t motivate yourself to succeed if you don’t know your motives”, and from Laurence Peter “If you don’t know where you are going, you could end up somewhere else”. These words could not be further from the truth.

Both quotes inspire action, both inspire vision, both inspire goals. It’s important to have motives and a clear visual outline of what you want out of life because once you know what you want, you’ll figure out how to get it.

Knowing your motives allows you to discover your values, your dreams and your passions

Everyone has goals, but not all goals are the same. There are mainly two reasons why people get motivated:

1. It is the desire for profit

2. It is the fear of loss

1. Susan is a wife, mother, worker, has a stable job, financial security, a wonderful family, and a great social life – but has health problems

2. Helen is a single mother, a waitress, barely making ends meet, but in good health.

Helen, we surmise, might be motivated by a desire to gain in the areas of financial stability, social security, companionship, status, recognition, etc., while Susan would be more motivated by a desire to maintain her current lifestyle and therefore Therefore, you would seek to adopt healthier habits such as getting fit, eating well, managing your relationships at home, your productivity at work, and your social status.

Both would have motivating factors and therefore both would have goals to set and achieve.

carrots

Goals are carrots, they are steps to achieve dreams, they are checkpoints, milestones, they are the things that bring us closer to success.

Having goals is having direction and a compass. a road map to a destination. The goals say ‘To achieve that first, succeed at this’ and ‘To be that, first be this’. The objectives are necessary and are the starting point. Once you have clearly defined goals, your vision becomes clearer and the action steps to achieve it become more practical.

If your dream is a higher position at work, set smaller goals that will help you achieve it. You can start by brainstorming and writing down what tasks the job will require of you and in what capacity, experience, education and skills etc.

Once you’ve written it down, select which ones you can do right now and in your current capacity. You could take additional classes, volunteer for work projects to improve product knowledge, and gain additional skills.

An objective is a lighthouse, a pier, a checkpoint, something to reach that will allow you to successfully move on to the next one, gradually progressing towards the larger objective.

The winner’s attitude

Being a winner is not a one time thing. It is a series of habits that will end up making you a consistent person in every effort you undertake. It’s a character trait, winners have a positive attitude, enthusiastic spirit and fearless self-confidence.

I’ll start this section with some of my favorite quotes:

“Control your destiny or someone else will” ~ Jack Welch

“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are” ~ Theodore Roosevelt

“The way to start is to stop talking and start doing” ~ Walt Disney

“Things may come to those who wait, but only things are left behind by those who hasten” ~ Abraham Lincoln

“The person who is waiting for something to appear can start with the shirt sleeves” ~ Garth Henrichs

success breeds success

When you try something you thought you couldn’t do before and actually do it, the confidence you gain from achieving that goal will allow you to boldly and confidently move on to the next one. Small goals lead to smaller goals, and when he looks back, he’s made significant progress toward the top of the ladder.

When you get in the habit of winning, you develop a winning mentality. A mindset that says I can’t lose, because I’ll give it my all until I’m successful at this. Winners are not born, but they are made; Through small efforts, great things can be achieved.

smaller goals

A successful businessman and friend of mine once told me his secret to success: set smaller goals.

It didn’t seem like much at the time, but he went on to say that he found early that his confidence grew every time he won or excelled at something. It doesn’t matter how small it was. This attitude helped him quit smoking, train for and successfully finish a marathon, and compete in a local triathlon.

He says this attitude helped him win minor goals every day and when he overcame a challenge or jumped a hurdle or broke his personal best, his confidence skyrocketed.

He went on to say that staying fit improves your mood, confidence, physical energy, and mental alertness, characteristics that he says are vital to your success in business, relationships, family, life, hobbies, and so on.

And I agree with him, and have since developed this attitude myself.

1. ChaseSomething

Small, big, anything, something you can excel at, something you can win at, something apart from the bigger goal: a hobby maybe, a sports club, art, photography, learning an instrument, traveling. Anything you thought you couldn’t do or were afraid to do, you should do. That riff you’ve always wanted to play? Try it and you will see how far you go with it.

The mental focus and dedication that will be required for you to succeed in the task will develop in you an attitude of discipline and the mentality of a champion who says ‘Nothing is impossible’

two. Don’t be afraid of failure

Everything in life is a risk.

While Henry Ford today is known for his innovative assembly line and American-made cars, he wasn’t always successful. In fact, his early businesses failed and left him broke five times before he founded the successful Ford Motor Company.

Abraham Lincoln will surely go down in history as one of the greatest leaders of the 20th century, but his life wasn’t always wonderful. In his youth, he went to war as a captain and came back as a soldier (now, if he’s not familiar with military ranks, a soldier is as low as he can get). However, he didn’t stop failing there. Subsequently, he started numerous businesses that completely failed and he was defeated in numerous races for office before becoming president.

Billionaire and philanthropist Warren Buffett wasn’t accepted to Harvard University because he was told he wasn’t smart enough. If he had believed them, he would never have been the man he later became. His rejection was his fuel for success.

NBA star and basketball legend Michael Jordan was repeatedly rejected from the high school basketball team and told he wasn’t good enough. He proved everyone wrong and then said, “I have failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.”

Winners often go through hard times before they succeed. The idea is not to avoid failure, but to keep trying and moving forward and getting out of your comfort zone to get what you want.

3. motivate someone

Say words of success every day

When you motivate others, you speak positive words, words of success and encouragement. Positive conversations in your vocabulary make you constantly think about what you are saying and eventually believe it. Spoken words come true and positive conversations lead to positive results. “I have never seen a pessimistic general win a battle” ~ Dwight David Eisenhower

Four. learn from the best

Legendary boxing champion and social activist Muhammad Ali made the catchphrase “I am the greatest” his personal brand. It is now debatable that he was not the greatest boxer of his day, but he said it so often that he made us believe him.

He also said: “To be a great champion you have to believe you are, if you’re not, pretend you are.” and later he confessed: “I thought if I said it enough, I would convince the world that he really was the best.” And he did that, and then he worked hard to make it happen.

Try to surround yourself with positive people, people who inspire you. who challenges you If you can’t, surround yourself with self-help and motivational books. If you’re more modern and on Twitter, follow thought leaders, motivational people, quote curators, and inspirational individuals. The constant stream of positivity and encouragement will leave you motivated and encouraged every day.

5. put your mind in order

Winning is a mindset. Winners constantly share their pearls of wisdom with us, but we rarely believe them because we somehow think they’re just amazing human beings. We forget that they are ordinary people like you and me who worked hard to make their dreams come true.

If we can look at our past and look at ourselves now, we will realize that nothing can stop us, our limitations are simply illusions, obstacles that must be jumped and conquered. If we can convince ourselves that we were born to win, we will eventually win. It behooves us to stop doubting ourselves and move on with our success.

The world is our playground. let’s score some goals
