Pharmaceutical Tips For Your Pet Horse – I Have A Book You Need To Read

When it comes to health care, most people right now are thinking about their own health care costs, the implications of ObamaCare, and how to stay healthy. Sure, we humans worry about those things, but we’re not the only species on this pale blue dot. What if you have horses? Well, in that case there is no universal health care for horses, they live or die and evolution takes its course from there, but when they are our pets we would certainly like to take advantage of nature and improve our chances, not only for racehorses, hunters and jumpers, but also for our personal horses.

In fact, if you have a horse, there is a very good book that I have that I would like to recommend to you. It will help you protect your horse and understand a little about the nuances of this species, along with physiological needs you may not have considered. The name of the book is;

“Equine Medicines: Your Guide to Horse Health Care and Management”, by Barbara D. Forney, MS, VMD, Eclipse Press, Lexington, KY, 2007, 240 pages, ISBN: 978-1-58150-151 -3.

One of the best parts of this book is the first chapter that explains how to use it, what it should be used for, and how to make it a solid reference when you really need it in the future. There are also interesting chapters on “Drug Rules for Competition Horses” and “The Administration of Drugs” which I think you should focus on primarily. Another important chapter is “Medical Mathematics” and how to calculate how much of a drug to give a horse based on its weight and the like.

The last chapter is probably the most important, as it explains each type of medicine, how it should be used, and when it should be used. Not only that, there is a section that covers brand name drugs and their generic counterparts, if you want to save money. You see, you need to know about drug interactions, special considerations, and basic information. This book will help you reduce side effects and the chance of overdose, as well as alert you in advance if you’ve made a mistake when giving your medications and prevent you from giving the wrong medications for the wrong reasons.

If you have a horse, this book is a must in my opinion. So I recommend this book to you and I’m happy to say that it cost less than 20 bucks, and that makes it that much better. Please consider all this and think about it.
