Simple Tips to Get the Most Out of Self-Improvement Books

Self improvement and personal growth have been a part of my staple diet for over 15 years. Reading, watching, listening, discussing, researching your name, I have been doing it in pursuit of becoming a better and better self.

I am always looking for the next book, DVD, or course that can increase my ability to grow, develop, and achieve more in my life.

A lot of the stuff I read and watch generally talks about the same kinds of things, but there are always some aspects that you can put your own perspective on and then implement into your life.

Sir Francis Bacon’s famous quote “knowledge is power” is something I am a great advocate of. Armed with the right knowledge and when used correctly, I believe it makes you an incredibly powerful force that allows you to achieve anything and everything you want.

So, with that in mind, I’ll start by asking you this:

Is there a bookstore near you?

You have visited? If so, you’ve probably noticed that you have an entire shelf (if not shelves) packed with self-improvement books.

This should come as no surprise, as the demand for personal development books is growing. It’s not unusual to see one or two personal development book titles on best-seller lists at reputable bookstores, such as the one regularly published by the New York Times.

If you’re looking for self-improvement books to read, finding the ones you need or just the ones that are right for you can be quite frustrating. There are too many books out there. You are offered too many options that making a decision can bring up your migraine problems. To help you find the perfect self-improvement book for you and guide you in getting the most out of it, keep the following tips in mind.

I) What exactly are your worries or problems for which you need self-improvement books?

Why are you looking for a self-improvement book in the first place? Do you want me to help you improve your overall health? Do you want to learn how to effectively manage your money and assets? Are you looking for more wealth? Do you want to build your self esteem and confidence. Some books cover all of this in a single link, but you’re better off choosing one that focuses specifically on a niche.

II) Do your research and take the time to read reviews of the self-improvement books you plan to buy.

Here’s one thing to keep in mind: Just because a book is often seen on bestseller lists doesn’t mean it’s a good book. Don’t buy a book just because it’s #1 or #2 on the New York Times bestseller list for self improvement books. What you need to do is read as many reviews of the book as you can. If you can read reviews that are mostly positive, then the book is probably one you need. If the reviews say negative things about it, you’re probably better off buying it.

III) Read the best self-improvement books.

To help you get started, here is a list of some of the best self-improvement books out there:

1) The Secret – Rhonda Byrne: There is a reason this book blew up and became one of the most talked about books on the law of attraction.

2) The Power of Now – Eckhart Tolle: This book teaches you how to live in “the now” and how to calm your being through meditation.

3) The 4 Hour Work Week – Tim Ferris – This book opens your eyes to the power of the internet and how you can use it to free up your time to live the lifestyle you want.

4) The Millionaire Mindset – Gerry Robert: This book will teach you how to create that abundance mindset that will enhance your wealth.

Your life and your future is in your hands. Take control now and follow the tips above to get the most value out of self-improvement books.
