Somalia’s president says parliament must abide by the law

Parliament must be committed to implementing the law of the country and should not be part of the problem, Somalia’s President Sharif Sheik Ahmed said in a press release on Saturday after the growing rift with the speaker of the state house.

The president blamed the parliament for being slow to approve the newly appointed prime minister Mohamed Abdulahi Mohamed (Farmajo). He also accused the parliament committee of creating an unpleasant atmosphere.

“It is prudent for parliamentarians to uphold the country’s written charter and my government is determined to push through the new prime minister.” the president said.

Uncertainty arose when President Ahmed unexpectedly appointed a new prime minister without any consultation with the speaker of parliament, Sharif Hassan Sheik Aden.

With the existence of that discrepancy and the recent thesis book published by the future prime minister, it generated wider criticism from within and without and instigated unrest within parliament.

In his book (US STRATEGIC INTEREST IN SOMALIA, From Cold War Era to War on Terror) published in June 2009, the new prime minister defamed some of the Somali clans in central and southern Somalia.

Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, president of Somalia’s transitional government, said Saturday that they were committed to implementing Sharia law, just as he spoke to more people after Friday prayers at Villa Somalia, the government’s presidential palace in Mogadishu.

Parliament Speaker Sharif Hassan, who was presiding over the parliament session, raised a question about what the motion would look like in secret or a way of raising hands as members of parliament give the prime minister a vote of confidence.

Most of the parliamentarians suggested that taking confidence in the vote should be a way for lawmakers to raise their hands as it used to be, while some others preferred a secret way and then immediately the speaker of parliament made a decision that he supported the minority of parliamentarians by saying that he would be ordering in secret. boxes must be brought.

Unfortunately, there was a loud sound in the parliament pit from most of the parliamentarians who were angry with his speech, and then he closed the assembly and told the parliamentarians to come back next Saturday.

There were discussions in the parliamentary hole that angered with Sharif’s bad behavior and what he had done yesterday after the meeting ended in dispute, misunderstanding and failure.

Showing that they would not accept of the evil deeds he is doing, threatening to force him out of office and bring him to justice, adding that they will whistle him (el Sharif Hassan) once.
