The effects of music and influence on society

Man is a social being who has developed the use of music from a common means of entertainment to a therapeutic tool. Music brings happiness to people, music calms people down, and music can correct neurological complications.

Music is defined as an art form whose medium is sound and is therefore commonly known as an art that moves the soul. It is made up of pitch, rhythm, dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture. It is commonly used for entertainment, but there is more that many do not know. Music appreciation varies from person to person, place to place, or culture to culture. Your reaction to music is heavily influenced by what you’re used to and your understanding of what a song is. Music can be a means of communication whereby one actually listens to the lyrics and understands what is being said in the song, or simply a collection of sounds combined to create a rhythm. The sounds produced by early risers can be translated into music.

Music can be used for entertainment. Here people react by dancing or singing alongside. Music heals the soul or makes people forget their worries. Music can also be used to remind someone of the past or worries. Here we say that music causes good or bad memories. Particular songs are attributed to particular moments or experiences in someone’s life, so that every time they hear a song, they are reminded of a particular event. Therefore, at different times, music can stimulate excitement, relaxation, festivity, boredom, sexuality, arrogance, anger, just to name a few.

Music is now used in hospitals to relieve pain, especially during childbirth or surgery, it is used to put the mentally disabled in a calmer situation. Two components of music are rhythm and melody. The strength of the rhythm is reinforced by the types of instruments.
