Two Great Places to Live in Northern California and Why
The capital of California is Sacramento and there are several great places to live outside of the Sacramento area. Roseville and Rancho Cordova are two of the cities to consider if you live in the Northern California region. This article will look at the different things these two cities have to offer and why they are great places to live, as well as being located in beautiful Northern California. The first city, Roseville, has a population of just over 100,000, but it is growing steadily and is expected to be closer to nearly 134,000 by the year 2015. The Roseville area is over 30 square miles and has several beautiful creeks running through the city called Dry Creek, Linda Creek, Secret Ravine and Cirby Creek. This city has beautiful, lush greenery that is so common in Northern California with the cooler climate and extra rainfall it receives. Most of the rain falls during the colder winters, and summers are often hot and dry in Roseville. CNN’s Money ranked Roseville as one of the best places to live in 2006. Another ranking showed that this city is the skinniest city in the country with a body mass index of just 24.5. This may explain why there are a number of professional and Olympic athletes that hail from Roseville.
Roseville has a strong economy with many retail businesses. It is the site of one of the largest auto malls in the country that helps the local community, as well as being known for a large number of shopping options. This city ranked 11th highest in retail sales in the entire state of California last year with its wide variety of shopping options. It is known as a regional shopping destination with people traveling there for shopping. The biggest destination is Westfield Galleria which continues to expand and across the street is another retail store called Fountains. They hope that once the economy improves, things will also improve in this great city of Roseville.
There are several other large employers in Roseville such as Hewlett-Packard, Kaiser Permanente, Union Pacific Railroad, and Sutter Roseville Medical Center are considered some of the largest companies. In 1988, Roseville decided to revitalize the downtown area by upgrading many of the crumbling historic buildings.
Rancho Cordova is a new community that was incorporated in 2003 and already has a population of 60,000. It owes its name to the Vineyards of Córdoba that were located there. It’s a diverse mix of residents and many famous professional baseball players who also hail from Rancho Cordova, such as Chris Bosio and Max Venable. Another notable resident is Lester Holt of the Today Show.
