The Eiffel Tower is the most famous of Parisian monuments and until 1930 it was the tallest building in the world. It has two restaurants and offers extensive views of the Parisian cityscape.
Notre Dame Cathedral was built in the 14th century and is the setting for the famous story of the Hunchback. Its Gothic features and massive towers make it instantly recognizable.
The Arc de Triomphe is another Paris landmark and this arch is so big that someone flew a plane under it. If you want to reach the top you will have to climb 284 steps. Then again, you can always take the elevator.
Many think that the Palace of Versailles is the most beautiful building in the world. Completed in the early 17th century, it has been the seat of monarchs such as King Louis XIV.
The Champs Elysees is the most famous street in the world. In fact, it is only around 2 kilometers long and was only completed in the 17th century, but it has a reputation for expensive shopping and expensive real estate.
The River Seine conjures up romantic images in the minds of many, and with its attractive bridges and beautiful setting, this ‘blood of the city’ is the most painted river in the art world.
It is difficult, if not impossible, to visit Paris without going to a gallery or museum and the most notable of all is the Louvre. This gallery receives an incredible twenty-two thousand visitors per day and has works of art by the most famous artists and sculptors. In past times it also benefited greatly from Napoleon Bonaparte’s conquests and captures.
If time is short, it is better to plan what to see and do in Paris in advance. The city has many internationally famous attractions, so selecting which one to visit and which one to leave out can be a challenging task.
