What is somniphobia (fear of sleeping or lying down) and how to cure it?

According to statistics from recent health surveys, there are many people around the world who experience a condition where they are afraid to go to bed or sleep. These people often get very anxious before going to bed. This symptom is called somniphobia or fear of sleeping or lying down.

If you think you have a similar experience or symptoms, you need to ask yourself: Are you anxious before going to bed? Do you have nocturnal panic attacks or increased anxiety before bed?

If your answer is yes, you may have somniphobia, a symptom of anxiety disorder. This condition is not a standalone condition contrary to what many inexperienced physicians have said.

In fact, more than 80% of those with somniphobia that I have met reported the exact same fears about going to bed, sleeping, bedtime anxiety, nocturnal panic attacks, and the intrusive feelings and thoughts associated with this condition.

The characteristic of somniphobia, as it is widely known, is to be afraid of not being aware of the world around them during sleep, they fear that they will not be able to wake up if something bad happens to them or around them, if they do!

Many patients have an extreme fear of having nocturnal panic attacks, almost everyone with anxiety disorders that I have known, went through this experience during their anxiety disorder.

The reason for all this is the unpleasant experiences that is due to increased anxiety that fuels this fear. Inappropriate anxiety triggers all phobic conditions.

So what is the solution to all these fears? Is there any way that can be done to stop the somniphobic conditions so that I can stop dreading sleep, stop nighttime anxiety and be able to sleep peacefully and no more fear at bedtime?

The answer is to lower the threshold for the anxiety level in your brain, which has been reset to a much higher ‘baseline’ level during anxiety disorders.

Once you can reprogram the amygdala, which is a small organ in your brain that is responsible for the production of anxiety, you can definitely eliminate all inappropriate anxiety, the symptoms of that anxiety, and the fears that accompany those. symptom; including his conditions of somniphobia which is the fear of going to sleep.
